Maintaining Superior Police and Fire Service
Santa Monica’s police and fire departments are priceless local assets not enjoyed by our neighboring cities. People who live just across the city border have asked me, “How can we annex our neighborhood to Santa Monica?” Our police, fire, and paramedic response is the reason they’re asking! (It’s not to get our City Council meetings on their local cable TV.)
Even in lean budget years, our police and fire service must be the best. The departments must be given the resources they need to do their jobs. Public safety is city government’s primary duty to its residents.
